The only 100% effective hair removal treatment

100% permanent hair removal

For over 140 years electrolysis has been the ONLY recognised 100% form of permanent hair removal treatment, and is effective for all skin types and hair colours including white, grey blonde and red hair.

The technique itself permanently destroyes germinative cells in the hair follicle responsible for hair growth.  It does this due to the insertion of a fine probe into the hair follicle and the application of a current adjusted to the type of hair and the area being treated.

Dermal Remedy is proud to use APILUS technology.  Apilus offers extremely advanced technology with proven effectiveness in the field of hair removal.

Before Apilus, electrolysis treatments were known to be uncomfortable and slow, which meant a lot of the time people would give up on them before they properly saw the benefits.  The creators of Apilus were convinced that by integrating modern technology, electrolysis could become a much more effective and comfortable technique, and it's now known as on of the only electrolysis brands guaranteeing gentle 100% hair removal.

They designed an advanced computer system that concentrates and controls the extent of the destruction in the hair follicle, targeting only the germinative cells and so preventing new hair growth.

It has demonstrated time and time again that is is the ONLY permanent hair removal system available on the market today that delivers more effective and more comfortable treatments as well as much more rapid permanent results than any other hair removal technique.

Before + After Care Instructions...

Hydrate + Moisturise - Drink a lot of water during the full course of your treatment sessions and keep the treatment area well moisturized for best hair removal results.

Try avoiding chocolate, caffeine and alcohol 24-hrs before treatment to promote further hydration.

Clean + Fresh - Always arrive to your appointment in good hygiene.

Consult your Doctor - If you have any health conditions that impact your skin, heart, blood or hair growth you should always consult your physician first.

Be Honest - Always tell your electrologist the truth and disclose all health conditions when completing the forms provided.

Use Serious Retinoids - Stop using retinoids at least 1-week prior to treatment.

Clog Pores - Refrain from applying make-up, deodorants or any other products that may clog the pores of the area being treated.

Bleach Hair - Never bleach hair right before an appointment. The harder the hair is to see, the harder it is to remove. If you bleach in between appointments, allow enough time for your hair to grow back in so your electrologist can see your roots {approx 1/16” to 1/8”}.

Expose Yourself to Sun - Stay out of the sun for at least 48-hrs prior to electrolysis treatment to avoid dilation of the blood vessels.

Managing Pain & Discomfort - Take a pain relief tablet. Use as directed on the label.

Avoid caffeine, alcohol & chocolate 24-hrs prior.

You may want to avoid treatment during menstruation because some women find they are more sensitive during this time.

If you are getting a dense area treated like the bikini, groin or beard, shave the area being treated 3-5 days before your first treatment (depending on regrowth rates) to ensure all hairs being treated are in the Anagen {growth} phase. Ensure regrowth is at least 1/16” to 1/8” in length.

Soothe + Sterilize - Use witch hazel, diluted tea tree oil, or aloe vera to soothe & sterilize the area.

Reduce Inflammation - Apply a cold compress to minimize swelling.

Schedule Your Next Appointment

Cataphoresis - A post-depilation care which uses continuous or galvanic current to restore the skin after hair removal.

Increase Risk of Infection - Avoid rubbing, scratching, and over-touching the treated area within the first 24-hours post-treatment.

Alcohol Based Products - Refrain from using products like perfume immediately following treatment. Isopropyl alcohol burns and can irritate the treated area because the pores are open.

Remove Scabs - It’s normal for scabs to form after electrolysis, so it’s important to never pick them. Removing a scab prematurely can cause scars and increase chances of infection.

Clog Pores - Refrain from applying make-up, deodorants or any other products that may clog the pores of the treated area.

Wax, Tweeze, Thread or Sugar - If you must remove your hair between appointments, then shave, clip or use a depilatory cream.

Remember, if you bleach in between appointments, make sure there is enough time for your hair to grow back in so your electrologist can see your roots {approx 1/16” to 1/8”}.

Sweat Excessively - Engagement in activities that cause excessive sweating, like working-out or sitting in a sauna, immediately after treatment can trigger a build-up of bacteria and cause infection.

Managing Pain + Discomfort - Apply a topical salve or aloe vera

Take a pain relief tablet (use as directed).

Apply a numbing cream found over the counter with 2% Lidocaine, or one slightly stronger that can be prescribed by a physician.

Sun + Swim - Stay out of the sun for 72-hours to avoid pigment spots. If you will be in the sun, be sure to use a sunscreen with a minimum of 30-SPF.

Avoid chlorine for 48-hrs

Redness, Swelling, Scabbing + Possible Bruising

The post-treatment sensation feels similar to a sunburn. Your electrologist will apply witch hazel & aloe vera at the end of your session but you can ask about other post-treatment options that may be appropriate for you.

During Treatment

Medical History Assessment

You will be asked to complete a client health consult form at your first appointment. Please be honest. Dermal Remedy is a safe place and all your information is protected!

Health Standards - You will always be treated in a clean and sanitized environment.

You will receive a new and sterile probe at the start of every appointment that will serve specifically for your health conditions, hair type and pain threshold. Each probe will be discarded after the session.

Positioning - Your electrologist may ask for your assistance with pulling and stretching your skin depending on the location of the treatment area and the elasticity of your skin. You may also be repositioned several times to help make the treatment area more accessible.

Relax + Distract - Try to get as comfortable as possible during your treatment.

Keep yourself distracted. Try meditation or engaging in a conversation with your electrologist.

Tough It Out - Work as close to your pain threshold as possible to get the most effective treatment. You will also begin to build up a tolerance making future visits less uncomfortable.

Watch the Face - You may be tempted to schedule longer appointments if you have a high pain threshold; however, it’s smart to keep appointment increments to 20-minutes or less for any single treatment area.

frequently asked questions...

What is Electrolysis?

A very fine sterile probe is inserted into each individual hair follicle sending a localised electrical current to the growth centre to destroy the germinative cells that allow the hair to grow, the effects are almost always permanent and any areas of the body can have hair removed in this way.

Electrolysis is an effective treatment for both vellus and Terminal Hair.

-Vellus hair is soft, fine, and short.  Most woman have villus hair on their chest, back, and face.  It can be darker and more noticeable in some woman than others, especially those with darker complexions.

-Terminal hair is coarser, darker, and longer than vellus hair.

Types of Electrolysis

The first method of electrolysis was galvanism discovered by a  US ophthalmologist in 1875 who used it to successfully, permanently remove ingrown eyelashes.  The other method of electrolysis is thermolysis which was discovered in France in 1924.  The two systems used in conjunction are known as the blend method.  To date these methods are the only treatments used for permanent hair removal.

-Galvanic or Electrolysis is a chemical process.  The current produces a chemical reaction in the hair follicle eliminating the hair growth cells.

-Thermolysis or short wave produces heat.  When this modality is used it heats and destroys the hair growth cells in the follicle.

-Blend method combines galvanic current with thermolysis current.  Thermolysis heats up the chemical reaction from the Galvanic current destroying hair growth cells.

Why should I choose electrolysis over other hair removal methods?

Electrolysis is the ONLY true permanent hair removal method and the only permanent treatment recognised by the FDA.
