Dermaplaning Treatment...

Dermaplaning is a fast, safe, non-invasive treatment that can improve many skin conditions with instant results and no downtime.

Dermaplaning is safely performed using a sterile stainless steel surgical blade. The blade is held against the skin at a 45-degree angle and is stroked gently along the skin to remove the outermost layers of dead cells  along with fine facial hair known as ‘peach fuzz’ or vellus hair.  It immediately leaves the skin feeling smooth, supple and vibrant.

Enzyme treatments, facials, chemical peels and micro skin needling treatments are greatly enhances when combined with dermaplaning.

A noticeable improvement is immediate with softer, smoother, brighter, glowing skin.

Dermal Remedy recommends a monthly dermaplaning session, with a light enzyme treatment  that nourishes and hydrates the skin with an infusion of minerals, brightening botanicals and protein rich caviar serums and moisturizers.

Questions and answers...

What is dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a manual exfoliation technique that uses a custom dermaplaning blade designed to remove accumulated dead skin cells, surface debris and vellous hair. It is a comfortable, relaxing procedure that can be combined with other services. Dermaplaning has no downtime.

What results can i expect from dermaplaning?

Brighter, softer, smoother skin that glows with renewed health. You will  also notice a reduction in the appearance of fine lines, hyper-pigmentation and acne scars.

Once the vellus hair is removed, will it grow back thicker?
No, this is physiologically impossible. The soft, fine vellus hair will grow back slowly – usually in about 4 weeks.
There are two types of hair that grow on our bodies: Vellus hair is the thin, fine, soft hair that typically covers the entire body. Terminal hair is the course hair that grows on the head, face in men, underarms, legs and pubic areas.
Dermaplaning, waxing, tweezing or any other form of depilatory hair removal cannot alter the type of hair grown in any given area.

Can dermaplaning cause the skin to bleed?
Yes, some small minor nicks may occur during the treatment.

What areas can be treated?
Dermaplaning can performed on the face, under the chin and sides of the neck. Dermaplaning is not performed on the eyelids or chest.

How often can this procedure be performed?
Dermaplaning can be performed every 3 to 4 weeks. Treating the skin in this manner actually removes about 2 to 3 weeks worth of dead skin cells. You should allow the skin to complete its normal skin cycle of approximately 21-30 days before repeating the treatment.

Can dermaplaning be performed with other skin treatments?
Yes. Dermaplaning is an excellent way to prepare the skin for other skin treatments, such as:  enzyme treatments, chemical peels, micro skin needling and facials.

Does the skin actually peel from Dermaplaning?
No. When dermaplaning is performed as a prep for other skin treatments such as a chemical peel, the visible exfoliation that the client sees will be as a result of the peel used in the treatment.

Who can have this treatment?
All skin types I-VI can benefit from Dermaplaning. This is a great treatment for Global skin types IV-VI. Darker skin tones actually have more layers of skin, so with aging the skin tends to sag rather than wrinkle. Dermaplaning removes these extra layers of skin, helps correct pigmentation concerns and provides a more youthful and healthy glow.
Typically clients over 35 are the best candidates and will return for regular treatments. It is highly addictive! Men can be Dermaplaned on non-beard areas as well.

Who cannot be treated?
Clients with active acne outbreaks or cold sores should not be treated until lesions are healed. Dermaplaning is great for diminishing acne scars but should not be performed during active outbreaks. Clients with bleeding disorders or difficulty clotting should not be treated. Clients with diabetes not under control by diet or medication should not be treated. Clients undergoing cancer treatment should also not be treated.

Is there any downtime after Dermaplaning?
No, that’s one of the benefits. The skin instantly has a healthier glow and feels amazingly soft, plus makeup glides on effortlessly for a flawless finish. This is a must have procedure before an important social event!
